Just using regular frying pan, you can also make super easy and delicious shrimp paella at home!

  • Ingredients:
    • 1-2 red bell pepper(s) finely chopped
    • 1-2 carrot(s) finely chopped (you can also just use only peppers or carrots)
    • 0.5 onion (yellow or white) finely chopped
    • 1-2 sprig(s) of rosemary (can sub with thyme or sage)
    • 2-3 cloves of garlic
    • 20-24 shrimps(peeled and deveined)
    • 2 tablespoons(30ml) olive oil
    • 1 cup(195g) of rice
    • 1.5 cups(360ml) of low sodium chicken stock
    • 1 tablespoon (14g) of unsalted butter
    • 2 teaspoons(4g) dried Italian seasoning mix(optional)
    • black pepper
    • salt

Easy Shrimp Paella Recipe

  • Prepare ingredients. Season 20-24 shrimps(peeled and deveined) with salt and pepper. Soak 1 cup(195g) of rice with water for 10-15min. Finely chop 1 red bell pepper, 1 carrot and half an onion.
  • Fry Vegetables. Take a regular 12 inch(30cm) frying pan. Medium heat. Once the pan is heated, add two tablespoons (30ml) of olive oil, 2-3 cloves of garlic and 2-3 sprigs of rosemary (or thyme or sage). When you smell the fragrance, add all the chopped vegetables (red bell pepper, carrots and onion). Fry them until the onion is softened and translucent.
  • Cook Rice. Add 1 tablespoon (14g) unsalted butter. Once the butter is melted, drain the rice and add the rice to the pan (see left below picture). Mix everything. Then add 2 teaspoons(4g) dried Italian herb seasoning (optional). Mix well (see right below picture).
  • Steam Rice and Shrimp. Add 1.5 cups(360ml) of low sodium chicken stock and then mix in 1 teaspoon(6g) of salt. Put the seasoned shrimps on top of rice (see right below picture). Turn to low heat. Cover the pan with a lid. After 5 minutes, turn off the heat. Keep the lid on. Let the residual heat continue steaming the rice for another 15 minutes.
  • Sear Rice to Create Crust. There might still be some liquid left. Turn the heat back to medium low. Keep the lid on. First wait until all the liquid fully absorbed by rice. Then pay attention to the sound. Once hearing the sizzling sound, remove the pan off the heat. The paella is ready!
